We recently discussed the high-profile Florida story involving a 33-year-old missing mother. She went missing right after she and her ex appeared on "The People's Court" and still has not been found. She was last seen dropping her kids off at their father's house. Sources don't report that there's any evidence that she's contacted anyone, and the search and investigation continue.
As we mentioned in the past post, it wouldn't take long for law enforcement to name its primary suspect: the ex-boyfriend. When we last discussed this matter, the 40-year-old ex and father of the couple's twins wasn't being treated as the prime suspect. He was reportedly helping officials. As of this week, he is named as the only suspect in what some think will turn out to be a homicide case in Florida.
The suspect has not been charged with any crime. No body has been found, and there's basically no evidence that any crime has been committed. Even though he hasn't been formally charged with anything, the ex has hired a criminal defense attorney who supports his client's insistence that he has nothing to do with the disappearance.
It isn't just the criminal defense attorney who sees the good in the suspect, but a judge responsible for making a child custody decision during this investigation sided with the suspect as well. The Florida Department of Children and Families argued that the kids in this situation should not be able to stay with their father. They pointed to past criminal behavior, including a domestic assault incident involving the mother, as reason to deny custody at this time. Because the suspect has no history of being harmful to his children, however, that request was denied.
Today, authorities searched Lake Ellenor for the missing mother. Last weekend, they searched the home of the suspect's parents. Nothing has reportedly been found to link him to any crime.
When there are developments in this missing persons case, we will post an update.
